Golden Jubilee Celebrations

The Kanara Catholic Association will be celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the Yuvakalaya Hall and Hostel on Sunday, 17 November 2019.


His Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest, while Ms. Faye D’souza will be the Guest of Honour. Cardinal Gracias along with Bishop John Rodrigues and other priests will  concelebrate a Thanksgiving Mass at 6 pm. 

 

This will be followed by speeches by the dignitaries and a short cultural programme. The finale will be fun and games, with drinks, dancing and dinner.

Passes are limited, and will be issued on a strictly first come first served basis

 




Passes are priced at the following rates:

Members/their spouses                                                              Rs 300 each

Children of Members between the ages of 5 and 12             Rs 150 each

Drinks will be served and available at cost at the venue.


Monti Fest 2019

In keeping with the tradition of the last 3 years, KCA Mumbai’s celebration of the Monti Fest will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2019. We once again invite you to attend the celebration of our cultural roots & traditions 


A prayer service, followed by the blessing of the harvest and a procession to the KCA grotto will be held. The traditional celebration & lunch will be on the same lines as the last 3 years. Members are encouraged to attend Mass at Mount Mary’s church, before the program. Thereafter, we will assemble at the KCA for the MONTHI SAIBINISHI FEST and KCA AGM. 


Having a socially and culturally active Association, as well as having more members take an active interest in the affairs of the institution - both objectives are met by having the AGM and Monti Fest celebration on the same day. We hope to see you in large numbers and we are sure that once again, it will be a rewarding day for the entire family.

The Programme: 

9:30 AM: Assemble at the Ground Floor Hall of KCA.

10:00 AM: Prayer Service and Konkani Hymns, during which new paddy and sugarcane will be blessed for distribution to Members, their families, and friends.
                    Tea & light refreshments will be served

11:00 AM: Members attending AGM will remain in the Ground Floor Hall. The rest of their family and guests will proceed to the First Floor Hall for games and cultural activities both in English and Konkani, and enjoy traditional Konkani Melodies.

1:30 PM: Enjoy specially prepared Buffet lunch by Flora caterers with different Mangalorean vegetable dishes, a fish coconut curry for those who want some variety, and the traditional sweet dish 'Worne' and other savouries

Passes will be available at the KCA Administrative Office from September 4, 2019 onwards

Update:

The Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of the Members of the Kanara Catholic Association, which was held on September 22, 2019, was attended by 64 Members.

The Draft Minutes of Meeting (MoM) of the Annual General Body Meeting is available for download at the bottom of this post.

The Final MoM will be adopted at the next General Body of the Members of the Kanara Catholic Association.  The Minutes will be circulated to all those Members, who attended the Meeting for their information and concurrence.  Objections or changes from Members should reach the Administrative Office of KCA, Mumbai, within two weeks of receipt of the Draft Minutes.

The Minutes are being made available on this website to all Members of the Association for their information.

Life's Second Innings

KCA, Mumbai is organising  a session on how to stay fit when you are about to hit 50. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 27th, 2019 and also includes session on finance, healthcare, holistic living, life skills, and mental health.

The event is facilitated by Ms Deepika Lobo and will have other guest speakers. The details of the event is given in the poster below :

Kanara Kafe Update

The KCA Managing Council is pleased to inform you that the Leave & License agreement for starting the "Kanara Kafe" at KCA premises, was signed between KCA and SAM Ventures, on January 24, 2019. The event was well attended by members of the Managing Council, Kanara Kafe Sub-committee, Cultural & Recreation Sub-committee members and Mr Ajoy D'souza - Partner of Sam Ventures. 

The Kanara Kafe once ready will serve authentic Mangalorean cuisine to KCA members at a discounted rate.  The management will also provide hostellers with meals.

Kanara Catholic Association, Mumbai intends starting at their administrative building - Yuvakalaya, at Bandra ( West ), a Restaurant to cater to the hostel inmates, KCA members and others, with mostly authentic Kanara Cuisine. 

The selected contractor will have to refurbish the existing mess room and two kitchens, furnish the same and obtain all the Municipal certificates in name of KCA at their own costs. 

Caterers with requisite experience in providing such service could contact KCA Hon. Secretary, mobile no. 9821484282, within next 7 days to obtain further details and the terms and conditions.

Christmas Cheer 2018

Christmas is forever, not just for one day, for loving, sharing, giving, and not to put away like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf. The good you do for others is good you do yourself. May this Christmas end the present year on a cheerful note and make way for a fresh and bright New Year.

The KCA Cultural & Recreation Team is putting together a one-of-a-kind programme, to bring to our members, their families an evening of fun and fellowship: of Christmas joy and cheer, of peace and goodwill to all in our community, to foster and celebrate the spirit of Christmas.

Passes for Christmas Cheer will be available at the KCA Administrative Office from November 24, 2018 to December 7, 2018.

Monti Fest 2018

In keeping with the tradition of the last 2 years, KCA Mumbai’s celebration of the Monti Fest will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2018. We once again invite you to attend the celebration of our cultural roots & traditions 

This year, the elections for the KCA office bearers will also be held, so we hope to see you attend the AGM and the Monti Fest celebration in large numbers. Based on the feedback from some members, and since the elections are being held, we will not have a Monti Fest Mass at the KCA this year - as it was felt that the program would be too rushed.

A prayer service, followed by the blessing of the harvest and a procession to the KCA grotto will be held. The traditional celebration & lunch will be on the same lines as the last 2 years. Members are encouraged to attend Mass at Mount Mary’s church, before the program. Thereafter, we will assemble at the KCA for the MONTHI SAIBINISHI FEST and KCA AGM. Eligible members can cast their vote from 10.00 am – 12.30 pm.

Having a socially and culturally active Association, as well as having more members take an active interest in the affairs of the institution - both objectives are met by having the AGM and Monti Fest celebration on the same day. We hope to see you in large numbers and we are sure that once again, it will be a rewar   ding day for the entire family.

12:30 PM: Elections – closing of voting.

1:00 PM: Announcement of Election Results.
